OK, so no I don’t, but what do you use when you can’t find a better word? Microsoft Word’s thesaurus generates: object, article, item, entity and gadget. But those are not the words that properly express what I want to say. I want to say “things”!
I had an English teacher in high school who literally had a fit if anyone used the words “thing” or “nice” in their essay.
I also hate the word, but I feel like I have no choice. I am trying to write a summary of the new up and coming book and I need to use that word. Or maybe you could help me?
Here is my sentence:
Family and friends become part of the story too when your child ventures indoors, outdoors and uses the imagination to discover an abundance of things to see.
Now, I can’t use the term objects, because the child won’t be looking at objects or items or any other word Word suggested. The child is looking at insects, animals, the moon, cards,… different…THINGS!!!!
Can any of you help me before I have a melt down? Thanks.
