  1. Where in the world is…

I thought this was too cute. We had someone ask us about shipping to Polynesia. Here are Elisia (our editor), Monique (my mom -thanks for helping out mom) and Nick (our production/shipping guy) hunting for Polynesia on the map.

  2. The Christmas Rush

Published 25 Oct 07 to 15:25 | by Elisia Bargelletti | no comment

This is my second Christmas at Printakid. Why am I already talking about Christmas? Here at Printakid the Holiday rush has already begun.

    What does that mean?

It’s a different atmosphere at Printakid during this season. Everyone is busy; there is ALWAYS something to do. (Don’t let me catch you watching YouTube videos MARTIN!) Everyone pitches in to make books (yes, even our president, Noemi), verify orders and make phone calls.

Last year it meant I was running around crazy making sure orders got out on time. I would power walk from the office to the production room in a panic, “Where is this order? Is it out? Ship it! NOW! NOW! NOW!”

I had no faith in us. I didn’t think we could get all those orders out. I worried that the next phone call will be you, disappointed that your order had not arrived.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I am happy that you love our books.

Noemi would tell me, “Elisia, we are doing much better than last year. Don’t worry. People have always gotten their orders on time for Christmas.”

Then she would tell me insane stories of how chaotic things were back then in the pre-Elisia era. You have to understand that Printakid is still young, about 4 years old. We are still working out some kinks here and there.

But Noemi’s words did not comfort me. I continued to dread your call.

By December 23 I realized that we made it. And I stopped worrying.

But I guess it’s the worry that keeps me on top of everything.

This year, so far we are doing better than last year. You will be glad to know that so far no Crazy Elisia. I guess I am more prepared. Ask me how I am doing in December.

  3. Why a blog

Published 18 Oct 07 to 15:08 | by Printakid Team | no comment

    Why a blog, you ask?

For four years we’ve been personalizing books for your unique kids. Many of you have suggested new story ideas, new personalization options and other improvements we could make. You want more hairstyles, different colour clothes, more story ideas, you want to be able to personalize other characters, and the list goes on.

We probably won’t be able to do all of it. And we definitely can’t do all of it at once.

So how do we decide what new things to do in our books? By asking you, of course. We want to hear every suggestion, big or small. We want to hear what you like and what you don’t like about the books, about the site, about the way we handled your order, about anything and everything we do. Let’s bounce around ideas so that we can really make books for and about YOUR children.

We thought this would be the perfect place to discuss all of this. The Printakid Blog.

Who’s we, you ask? (You’re asking a lot of questions for someone we just met.)

I’m Noemi, the president of Printakid, the brains behind this whole op. I will post blogs on my thoughts, suggestions and anything that I think you would enjoy. Now let me introduce you to my editor, Elisia:

Hi! I’m the editor. I’ll be posting anything from other personalized products that I like (or dislike), stuff about my nieces (relevant to you of course), reviews on books and just stuff I think concerns you related to Printakid.

On the flip side of this is our French Blogger, Christian. He’s Noemi’s spouse, a literature professor and the author of many of our books. He’ll be popping in from time to time too and we’ll definitely be taking some ideas from our French blog and posting them here. (Just like they will shamelessly steal from us).

If you see some clever drawings sprawled in our blog, that’s Martin’s doing. He does all the graphic designing around here. And we mean ALL. No one else here knows how to draw and that was proven with a little creativity homework assignment Martin gave all of us involving a flip book and a cartoon he wanted us to produce.

From time to time we will invite others to post. We always seem to have an intern or two running around here. We’ll want to involve them as well as anyone else who has something to say.

Anyways, welcome to our blog. Why don’t you take a minute and quickly post one idea. Tell us what you would like us to do next.

We look forward to hearing from you.
