How a personalized story shows your family

Each family is unique and special, wouldn't you agree?

All kinds of families can be shown in our personalized stories. Two-parent families, single parent families, extended families, families where grandparents are raising the child and many other types of families can be represented.

Family members that can be included in the stories.

Mother Grandmother Great-grandmother
Father Grandfather Great-grandfather
Mommy Grandma Godmother
Daddy Grandpa Godfather
Stepmother Sister Half-sister
Stepfather Brother Half-brother
Uncle Aunt Cousin
Friend Babysitter

You can give the name and the relationship (e.g. mother, brother, aunt, etc.) for each person you include in the story.

When casting your characters, you can use the relationship title and the name (e.g. her mother, Julie). You can use the relationship only (e.g. her mother) or you can use the name only (e.g. Julie).

Depending on the story you choose, you can include up to two parents, three friends and four family members.

You do not have to fill in all the character slots. For example, if you want only one parent to appear in the story, leave the second parent character slot empty. The story will change according to your choices.

Example of personalized text according to different families.

Here is the begining of the story Laughing All the Way to School, written for a boy named Martin who lives with two parents, Julie and Eric:

Martin wakes up at the crack of dawn. "Looks like another lovely day!" says his mother Julie. "It's time to get ready for school now," says his father Eric. The little family gets off to a flying start.

If Martin lives with his mother, the text would read as follows:

Martin wakes up at the crack of dawn. "Looks like another lovely day!" says his mother Julie. "It's time to get ready for school now." The little family gets off to a flying start.

In order to keep the questionnaire relatively short, we do not ask for the physical characteristics of the parents, friends or family members. Parents and friends are partially shown and their face and skin are always hidden. They wear funny disguises or only parts of their clothing are shown. Depending on the story the parents and friends wear outfits that hide their face and hands (e.g. scarves, hats and mittens, a cat costume, goggles, etc). Other family members are mentionned in the text but are not shown in the illustrations.
