About Us

A word from Noemi Berlus, founder of Printakid.

A few years ago I was looking for an educational gift to give my goddaughter. I wanted to find a book with a hero that looked like her, with her darker skin, beautiful long, brown hair and big, brown eyes (her mom is Haitian and her dad is French). I couldn't find any story that really represented her and her family. I realized that there are very few books that represent minorities or children with different names or with different family structures.

That is when I got my idea.

After five years as a successful management consultant for the international firm Mercer Management Consulting, I decided to become an entrepreneur. I started to make personalized stories; books that could include any child and that would show each child that they are special.

Since then, my team and I have printed thousands of different books for thousands of different children. Our stories have been sent all over the world, from North America to Australia. Journalists have recognized the quality and originality of our stories and I have had the chance to talk about Printakid's story on many television shows, radio broadcasts and in newspapers.

We were able to grow rapidly and offer a larger collection of 8 personalized books. The Printakid team is young, full of energy and ideas. What we love most is that we are creating a product that we believe in.

We have received hundreds of e-mails, letters and phone calls telling us how our stories have had a positive impact on children's lives. I would like to thank you for your support. Please continue to write to me with your comments, suggestions, and ideas. I look forward to hearing from you.

My name is Christian. I am the co-founder of Printakid, an author, professor, practically married, a father, always in love and completely gaga. I like stories that end well, those that end badly, and those that don't have an ending at all. I like books that turn us upside down and catch us off guard. I like books that take you on a roller coaster ride... Why don't you take a ride with me? Lenny PinkasLenny

My name is Lenny and I am responsible for marketing and business development at Printakid. I began my career as a musician and was the keyboard player for the band Men Without Hats. I have also worked in publishing and as a management consultant - that is where I met NoƩmi. I am thrilled to now be in an entrepreneurial environment where things move quickly and where I can make a difference every day. I also love the fact that I can cycle to the office!

My name is Martin and I have been the illustrator of Printakid's stories since 2003. After completing my studies in graphic design at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, I heard about Printakid through Noémi's brother. Since that time, I have developed and illustrated most of the drawings that appear in Printakid's personalized books. Outside of work, I am a big fan of role-playing games, cartoons, animated films and cycling. Elisia BargelletiElisia

Hi! I'm Elisia, editor and blogger. How did I get here? Well, after getting my bachelors in Journalism and editing for various companies (LOULOU Magazine, The Music Scene, Yellow Pages Group to name a few), I discovered Printakid. I sent my CV and here I am. At home, you'll find me taking pictures or at my computer editing photos. The munchkins with me in the picture are my nieces and they serve as a source of inspiration. Ciao!

Hi, my name is is Evelyn (or AlphaEvelyn for those of you who know me well), and I am responsible for communications and PR. I have been with Printakid since August 2008, which coincides with the completion of my Bachelor degree in communications. I spend most of my work day doing PR and keeping up my blog. I am as enthusiastic about my job as the day I started - the ambiance is laid back, which makes working here a pleasure. If you would like to drop me line, come visit my blog. I would love to hear from you! Janet HardcastleJanet

Hi, I'm Janet. My background is in applied arts - sculpture, printmaking and drawing. While raising my child I returned to school to get some computer graphics expertise. Illustrating children's books is a dream job - the right mix of creative challenge, peaceful environment, great people and of course, a fantastic project. I remain amazed at what the demands of the day can draw out. Besides this I can say that it's a real charm being able to share what I do with my own young family.

Hi, my name is Stéphane. I've been working in computer science for about 15 years, ever since finishing my studies at Cégep Montmorency. During my career, I have done many things from programming to project management. Having worked for big companies for the majority of my career, I appreciate returning to a small, family business. It's motivating and the atmosphere is great. Outside work, I love playing hockey (some say too much), making music and having fun with my daughter. Etienne St-ElienEtienne

Hi, my name is Etienne. With my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, you might wonder why I am not working for the power company. For me, computer programming has always being much more interesting than transformers. Here at Printakid, I feel at home - I know everyone's name, and am happy to be part of a process that creates such great personalized books for kids. But enough about me... in the time I took to write these lines, I could have written 10X the amount of code - and besides, I have debugging to do! Ciao!
